Chaskis 8k run & 5k walk

We had a great time yesterday participating in our local run/walk! It was a nice treat to have Amber (we missed you Chad) with us visiting from Portand, Oregon. All proceeds to the annual Chaskis run/walk go to families in need from Peru. The owner of our local running shop (Roger - Soler's TriSports) lived in Peru and represented them running in the 1984 Olympics. It was also Market Days in old town Helotes, so we walked around the shops a while checking out all the goods of local vendors. I found my new addiction there - a pulled pork sandwich with fresh coleslaw and a vinegar dressing to top - Oh my... was it ever tasty!!! I will be going back next month just to get another one! It was very festive to see all the authentic dancing, music, food, merchandise and such, from Peru. All of us even got to pet the very friendly Llama, Pepe.

We were so proud of KC - placing 1st in his age division!

Me being recognized for placing 2nd in my age bracket.

The course took an unexpected turn from the map and was actually a 9.3k vs. an 8k - According to mapmyrun it was a 5.8 miler instead of the expected 4.9 miles.

RESULTS: KC - 51:26 and 32nd overall, Me - 44:55 and 12th overall
