USAA 5k

We really had a great time last weekend at USAA! This is the 6th year of the race and our first year participating. It is for the purpose of improving the health of the employee's and there were over 5,600 who registered. Kim had registered KC & I to run the 5k and Kimy, Alison (Kimy's BFF), Brayden and her to walk it. Of course everything started off with the Star Spangled banner and all branches of the military participating...things we really love about the environment at USAA...it is always focused on our great country and those who serve it and us, in the military! It is always humbling and a little painful - knowing I always wanted to serve but couldn't for health reasons, oh well, not meant to be. We are always amazed at what an incredible effort goes into the events at USAA. We are really blessed with Kim's great job and great company!

5k: This was KC's first and my 4th this year. Karston ran it in 27:47 and placed 17th out of 36 in his age bracket, 12-14 yrs. I had my best time yet for a 5k at 24:18 and placed 14th out of 58 in my age bracket, 40-44 yrs. The girls and Brayden finished at about 1:05:00.

Check out the link below the picture of the dogs - "Remember Me" - very powerful Veteran's Day tribute I put on my facebook!

Getting ready to walk...for an hour!

KC feeling optimistic. Waiting in line to get our 'chip' timers.

Alison and Kimy and the silly Baer!

Enjoying the beautiful 286 acres of the USAA campus.
