Enough said - here are some pictures.
My big helper is a serious task master. He never lost interest and helped me finish the job.
Kim's idea turned out great - mounting Kimy's vanity mirror to her dresser and framing her exotic car creation (above stereo).
Here is the mostly finished room - New paint, a new reclining chair Kimy wanted, new bedding, new frames, new hardware on furniture (in process) - brushed nickle instead of the gold.
Kimy approved! She loves her new room, especially the loss of the blue & orange stripe around the room.
Kim thought the nightstands I made a few years ago could use some color - I agreed. KC had Kimy's nightstands in the background and her mirror.
Brayden helped me reinforce KC's new desk bench. KC prefers no back support.
KC checking out the new space.
New shelving units. Kim's idea to frame KC's scouting awards and patches.
New desk (Kimy's vanity) with newly painted hardware and new cushion, new desk lamp, new shelf above cork board displaying his trophies.
New denim bedding with custom made pillows (Kim made the 3 green ones).
New custom denim drapery with a creative hanging rod - I have been saving these sticks in the garage for a few years for the right project.
The thing that made this project so much fun was to really get creative and use all the resources around us we could. We found some great stuff at Goodwill, eBay, Home Depot, and our garage. We do our best work and have the most fun when we spend the least. We were thrilled when we added everything up and had spent $125 a room! It was a lot of work, but so much fun! We are very pleased with the results and so are the kids.

Bryce & Kim,the makeovers look great! HGTV would be proud.
The rooms look good! I'm sure the kids were very surprised. What great parents to do this for them.
Brayden, we love you and can't wait to see you, again.
